itel P70 Review – The Itel P70 is one of the best phones a Nigerian can buy. It comes with a whopping 10,000mAH battery accompanied by other amazing specs and features.
It is simply a phone that can last up to three days on a single charge which suits the average Nigerian that is battling with power outage.
In this iTel P70 review we will go through everything there is to know about the phone. By the end, you will have a clear idea of why you should buy the phone.
Itel P70 Review
Itel P70 Unboxing
Let’s quickly talk about the unboxing experience when you buy the phone.
Inside the box you will get the phone, a free MTN data voucher, a sim ejector tool, a nice phone case, a USB A to C charging cable, and an 18-watt charging adapter.
You are also going to get an extra case that serves as a power bank. Even though it’s a budget phone it’s nice that itel is giving us everything required to get up and running in the box.
Some brands don’t give you anything in the box. You know the brands I am talking about.
Itel P70 Price, Storage & RAM Type
The phone is selling for around 125,000 Naira which is for the base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage space. If you want a slightly better performance I suggest you go for the model with 8GB RAM.
The storage type is UFS 2.2 and the RAM type is LPDDR4X which is great considering the price.
You can also expand the RAM to 8GB RAM or even 16GB depending on the storage option you go for. It is difficult to find another phone within its price category that offers more RAM and storage for the price.
Design & Build Quality
The phone has a great finish at the back with some patterns. It is available in four colors and I prefer the bronze colorway.
It is quite comfortable to hold in the hand, and the rounded edges make it even more comfortable for long usage.
We have a down-firing speaker and a headphone port at the bottom of the phone. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is quite fast at unlocking the phone.
The phone also supports dual 4G SIM cards with a dedicated slot for memory expansion.
The phone is lightweight like I said earlier but when you add the powerpack it becomes hefty.
It also adds this aesthetic to the phone that I like.
We also have an IP54 rating against dust and water, itel also used grade materials for the build to protect it from accidental falls.
The camera arrangement at the back is unique and we also have an IR blaster that lets you control electronics at home.
The build quality is excellent and there aren’t any clicking or moving parts on the phone. The design is also kind of unique with the patterns at the back.
Display Aspect
For display we have an IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and 720p resolution. The refresh rate makes scrolling smoother in the eye.
For the price, I don’t think there is any phone that has a higher refresh rate display. Colors are sharp and the display size at 6.67 inch makes it comfortable for streaming content or watching movies.
You can also use the display even when it’s wet and greasy, a feature we see on much more expensive phones. The bezels are quite noticeable but at this price point, it’s expected.
There is also a tiny cut-out on the display for the front-facing selfie camera. Overall the display is as expected when you consider the price. Nothing too crazy, just the right balance of specs.
Itel P70 Review: Performance & Software
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G50 Ultimate. And the powerVR GE8320 is the GPU.
It handles day-to-day activities smoothly without any problems and you can even use it to play some games.
When playing casual titles like Candy Crush or Subway Surfers it can run for long without lags or delays.
You only notice a drop in performance when you push it too far while playing demanding games like Call of Duty mobile.
Performance is okay for the price and I don’t think you will have any issues when you stick to basic tasks.
Software
For software, the phone is running on Android 14 and we have itel OS 14.5 as the interface.
You can customize the phone to your taste and the new dynamic bar keeps you notified about everything happening on the phone.
The software has been polished over the years and it keeps getting better.
There are several pre-installed apps when you launch the phone but you can remove most of the apps. It’s a full Android version which is surprising because some budget phones are coming with the Go edition of Android.
The software is stable on the phone and there are rumors we might get Android 15 on the phone. At the moment, the software is stable and everything is fluid while scrolling on the phone.
Itel P70 Camera Test
For the camera we have a 13MP primary camera alongside a VGA camera at the back there is also an 8MP selfie camera.
The pictures from the phone look great in an environment with good lighting conditions.
You can see details in the pictures snapped with the main camera. There is a bit of processing on the pictures but it’s nothing overwhelming.
The phone is not camera-centric, it’s focused on power (battery life) but for the price the battery is decent.
The selfie camera does a decent job in well-lit areas and you can depend on the itel P70 for decent pictures.
Just know that you are not getting something that will blow people’s minds. You can record videos at 1080p 30FPS and it’s quite smooth.
Conclusion
Rounding up the Itel P70 is a battery powerhouse and you can depend on it to go three days on a single charge.
When you pair it with the power pack it can last even longer.
The build quality and display is okay for the price and in case you have any questions about the phone, feel free to ask in the comment section.
